I grew up going to the 7/11 on a regular basis and getting a pack of baseball cards.  The excitement was almost unbearable as I sifted through all the cards to see what good ones I got and somewhere in the middle of the pack I stopped because right there, was a mint condition card -- one of my favorite players.  I still love getting a new pack of baseball cards.

It’s amazing how we associate value with cleanliness or newness!

Scratches, wear, tear and dirt often make us think something has little or no value.  New cards seem to have more value over the cards that were “messed up”.

So often we think the same way when it comes to us and God.  When life gets us a little dirty we often think that God is going to kind of forget about us or maybe even throw us away because hey we’re like that baseball card in your drawer….a little dirty, a little scratched up…..not new anymore….we’ve made some mistakes…

I’ll admit I’ve felt those same things before….but let’s read what God has to say about us:

READ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new person. The past is forgotten, and everything is new.

The past is forgotten, and everything is new.   That means that in God’s eyes…you are new!

You’ll still experience life and get roughed up by some bad decisions you make but you’ll never lose your value to God….you need to stop listening to what the world says about you and start finding out what God says about you in His Word. I want to challenge you to wake up tomorrow morning and say to yourself.

Today I’m new!

iWill believe what God says about me!
